From the time I was small I have loved the outdoors. As a teenager, I enjoyed fishing, camping and experimenting with different ways of cooking over an open fire. In the spring of 1980, I spent 2-3 days each week solo camping in the Pisgah National Forest. As an adult I continue to enjoy the outdoors with both modern and primitive skills. I have instructed for schools, churches, Boy Scouts, state parks and private groups. The instruction I offer comes through a lifetime of experimenting, studying and practicing outdoor skills. For an outdoor adventure, “plan ahead”, “be prepared” and “practice skills.” – Jimmy
Philosophy
I have attended outdoor classes that taught what I consider to be “far out” stuff such as clearing your mind so as to become invisible to wildlife. Each to his own. However, what a person believes will come out in what they teach.  I am a Christian and what I teach about the outdoors comes from that perspective. I believe the God of the Bible is the Creator of the creation that we enjoy.
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” Psalm 8:3-4;9
